One of the most common questions asked by a new Christian is “What do I do now?” It is a natural question that reveals you are responding to the leadership of God’s Spirit.   Accepting Christ is the beginning of your journey with the Lord. The following will help you find some direction with your new life in Christ by giving three steps to start your walk with God…
(This section is about step 3.  Look for step 1 in earlier posts)

Step 3: Church Attendance
The church was started and organized by the Lord Jesus Christ.  Through the Church each person has Bible istructors available to aid in spriritual growth.  It is through our faith we have victories in life and experience miracles from God.  God also delcares that if we will learn what the Church teaches from the Bible; we will not be easily deceived or misled by false teachings.

~ Jesus started the Church
Matthew 16:18
"And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

~ Jesus died for the Church
Ephesians 5:25
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it."

~ Your attendance is important
Hebrews 10:25
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Since the giving of the Ten Commandments, God has required regular Church attendance.  He designed the Church to be an organized means of Bible instruction, personal discipleship, and congregational worship.

Accepting Christ is the beginning of your journey with the Lord. This following will help you find some direction with your new life in Christ by giving three steps to start your walk with God…

Step 2: Baptism

When?
Scriptural Baptism takes place after a person believes in Jesus Christ for salvation.
Acts 8:12
“But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.”

Why?
Baptism is the first commitment that God asks of you after you believe in Jesus Christ for salvation.
 Matthew 28:18, 19
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

Christ was our example!
Christ was baptized and this pleased God.
Matthew 3:16, 17
“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

I would like to congratulate you on your decision to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

Step 1: Have a Quiet Time of Prayer & Bible Study
The key to any good relationship is communication.  Upon
accepting Christ as Savior, you entered into a personal relationship with God. For a relationship to grow and develop, two-way communication is necessary.  God’s design is for us to communicate with Him. God speaks to us through the Bible and the Holy Spirit.  We in turn speak to Him through prayer.

Keys to having a Good Quiet Time…
~ Choose a place
This place should be free from interruptions or distractions where you can read the Bible and pray.

~ Choose a time
It should be a time where you are alert.  Treat this time as if you have an important appointment with someone. After all, you are meeting with the Lord.

~ Be prepared
What you will need…
Bible- a study Bible if possible
Notebook– Write down questions you may have for Pastor and create a journal.*
Plan of study – Read silently and systematically.**
(To increase your faith study the Gospel of John, to gain wisdom study the book of Proverbs and for comfort study the book of Psalms.)

*Creating a Journal
-Record prayer needs and praises
-Note scriptures that speak to your heart
-Write down scriptures to memorize

**Remember that reading a single verse with understanding is more valuable to you than reading a chapter with little or no retention of what you have read.

After you have chosen your place, your time and you are prepared, begin your quiet time with...
~ Prayer
Psalms 139:14
“I will Praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."

We live in an age that has more technology available to the individual than the world has ever seen before.  Much of this technology provides us with a better lifestyle.  However, it does not take long to realize technology cannot meet our spiritual needs.  People still suffer from broken hearts, emotional exhaustion and a sense of emptiness inside.  At Temple Baptist Church it is our desire and our mission to help you find the spiritual healing and the inner strength that only God can give you.

"
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."  Matthew 19:26
